Initial consultation

The first step is often the hardest, and the hurdle to reaching out to someone for help can be particularly high. Perhaps you've already tried many things yourself – reading online, buying books, or talking to friends. And yet, sometimes nothing changes. Perhaps certain prejudices are also holding you back from seeking professional help. Perhaps you're wondering whether psychotherapy is even right for you. Going into therapy is courageous and shows respect for your own well-being.


During the initial consultation, you should pay attention to whether you feel understood and comfortable with me, as the relationship between therapist and patient is crucial for the course of treatment. In addition to the therapeutic function, the initial consultation will focus on your reasons for seeking psychotherapy (reason, motivation, expectations, and therapy goals). The initial consultation lasts 50 minutes and costs EUR 110.

_Duty of confidentiality_


Confidentiality is a central element of psychotherapy.

Section 15 of the Psychotherapy ActPsychotherapists and their assistants are obligated to maintain confidentiality regarding all secrets entrusted to them or learned by them in the course of their professional duties. This duty of confidentiality is general and therefore, in principle, unrestricted towards any person or institution outside of the client/patient, such as spouses, other family members, government agencies, or other social service organizations.


The duty of confidentiality for psychotherapists is therefore much stricter than, for example, that of doctors.


If clients/patients explicitly request that data be shared with, for example, insurance companies, an effective release from the duty of confidentiality is essential.
